People against Dasam Bani Quotes the above pankti to support that if you remember Raam NAAM then you will not be eaten by ATMIC MAUT. So according to them, Mahakaal means Atmic maut. Now interesting thing is Gurbani never talks about ATMIC MAUT ( DEATH OF ATMA), rather Gurbani says that ATMA never dies. "NA KISH JANME JA KISH MARE"(SGGS), and "ACHARAJ KATHA MAHA ANOOP, PRATMA(spirit or atma) PARBRAHM KA ROOP,NA EH BOODHA NA EH BALLA, NA IS DOOKH NAHI JAM JALA, NA EH BINSE NA EH JAYE, AAD JUGADI RAHEYA SAMAYE"(SGGS). Now it is clear in above shabad that ATMA is formed from Wheguru and it has same characters as that of Waheguru. Like light submerging in light. "PRABH KI JOT SAGAL GHAT SOHE"(SGGS) and "BRAHM MAIN JAN, JAN MAIN PAARBRAHM, EKEH AAP NAAHI KISH BHARAM"(SGGS). Yes there can be a MAUT of Human mind, which is different and maut of human body that is different as well, but there is nothing called Death of ATMA. Now other point which i want to discuss here is, Gurbani believes that Death and Life are in the hands of one Waheguru. There is nothing like GOD gives life and Death in the hands of Demon as believed by Christians and Muslims. We believe that life and death is controlled by one creator, that is Supreme lord Waheguru. Now other thing is who is this MAHAKAAL then? is it a demon? is it different GOD? if it is different god then it means that gurbani believes in two Gods?? SO the pankti "RAAM NAAM SIMAR TU JEEVE FIR NAA KHAYI MAHAKAAL" (SGGS)should mean that If you believe in RAAM then other God MAHAKAAL will not eat you?? No that is not the case. Guru Sahib clearly says "KAAL AKAAL KHASAM KA KEENA, EH PARPANCH BANDHAWAN" (SGGS)means KAAL and AKAAL are the form of one Waheguru(KHASAM) So he is basically KAAL and AKAL as well."OR SO KAAL SABE BAS KAAL KE EK HI KAAL AKAAL SADA HAI"(SDGS). So this is the same Kaal which is Akaal as well. No difference at all. So in other words, if you come in the shelter of Waheguru by Raam Simran, Then waheguru will not destroy you, rather it will submerge you within him. Then He in his MAHAKAAL form protects you rather than demolishing you. Now other interseting thing is , the same concept of Gurbani is given in Dasam Bani as well.

ਚੌਦਹ ਲੋਕ ਜਾਹਿ ਬਸਿ ਕੀਨੇ ਤਾ ਤੇ ਕਹਾਂ ਪਲੈ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
He, who control al the fourteen worlds, how can you run away from Him?...Pause.
ਰਾਮ ਰਹੀਮ ਉਬਾਰ ਨ ਸਕਿ ਹੈ ਜਾ ਕਰ ਨਾਮ ਰਟੈ ਹੈ ॥ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਬਿਸ਼ਨ ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਸੂਰਹ ਸਸਿ ਤੇ ਬਸਿ ਕਾਲ ਸਭੈ ਹੈ ॥੧
You cannot be save by repeating the Names of Ram and Rahim, Brahma, Vishnu Shiva, Sun and Moon, all are subject to the power of Death.1.
ਬੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਨ ਕੁਰਾਨ ਸਭੈ ਮਤ ਜਾਕਹ ਨੇਤਿ ਕਹੈ ਹੈ ॥

ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਫਨਿੰਦ੍ਰ ਮੁਨਿੰਦ੍ਰ ਕਲਪ ਬਹੁ ਧਯਾਵਤ ਧਯਾਨ ਨ ਐ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
Indra, Sheshnaga and the Supreme sage meditated on Him for ages, but could not visualize Him.2.
ਜਾ ਕਰ ਰੂਪ ਰੰਗ ਨਹਿ ਜਨਿਯਤ ਸੋ ਕਿਮ ਸਯਾਮ ਕਹੈ ਹੈ ॥
He, whose form and colour are not, how can he be called black?
ਛੁਟਹੋ ਕਾਲ ਜਾਲ ਤੇ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਤਾਹਿ ਚਰਨ ਲਪਟੈ ਹੈ ॥੩॥੨॥
You can only be liberated from the noose of Death, when you cling to His feet.3.2.
Now if you read this shabad, it is very clear that Guru Gobind singh sahib ji says the same thing as mentioned in guru granth sahib in the panti "RAAM NAAM SIMAR TU JEEVE NA KHAYE MAHAKAAL". He clearly mentions that without the name of Hari( Waheguru/Mahakaal), no one can save you, Your RAAM, Krishan, Brahma are all useless. And if you read the last line of Shabad, it becomes crystal clear when he says that you will be saved by KAAL JAAL (MAHAKAAL FORM OF WAHEGURU) only when you will go into the Shelter of HARI NAAM.
